We recently broke ground on Summerville Preparatory Academy, a 43,000-square-foot charter school in Charleston, South Carolina. We are partnering with developer Red Apple Development and Charter Schools USA to build the education management organization’s third charter school with the Charter Education Board of South Carolina.

As the latest addition to our charter school portfolio, the 43,696-square-foot facility will be completed in July 2024 to alleviate overcrowding for the fall semester. Serving students in grades K-8, the 9.42-acre campus will feature collaborative classrooms for group work, interactive spaces for creative arts, a multi-purpose room with a basketball court layout and offices for independent work. With a main entrance facing Bacons Bridge Road, the academy will include several classrooms, an outdoor turf area, a retention pond and an anticipated 94 parking spaces.

“Ryan is now a prominent player in K-12 construction, and we are proud to play a role in providing diverse schooling options for Charleston’s rapidly growing population," said Max Bosso, our vice president of real estate development. “Summerville Preparatory Academy furthers Ryan’s commitment to delivering charter schools efficiently and effectively, as we work alongside education leaders in the Southeast to create outstanding learning environments.”

We have delivered more than 250,000 square feet of industrial, retail and educational space for the Charleston metropolitan area. In addition to Summerville Preparatory Academy, we have delivered two other schools in the Charleston area, including Berkeley Preparatory Academy and Mevers School of Excellence. We specialize in K-12 and higher education, as well as projects related to life sciences, athletic facilities and sports complexes. We’ve successfully delivered over 2.8 million square feet of educational projects in the Southeast region.
