The Minneapolis Chapter of the American Red Cross worked with Ryan to secure and develop a site on the scenic banks of the Mississippi River near downtown Minneapolis.

Before construction of the building began, Ryan provided brownfield remediation to revitalize the land where an old fuel storage site formely stood. The facility was designed and constructed to meet the diverse needs of the Red Cross: emergency support, training areas, offices and a blood donor center were all incorporated into the facility design.
