Ryan renovates two forgotten buildings into a boutique hotel
Chambers is a "luxury art hotel" located in Downtown Minneapolis' theater district and it is truly unique. With only 60 guest rooms on five floors, it is what the hospitality industry deems a boutique hote: the first hotel to offer a combined art, culinary and design experience. To create this boutique experience out of two dilapidated 100-year-old buildings was a major challenge. To get started, the team had to determine how to connect two buildings that were not the same height — one was four stories, the other three. Through careful structural planning, Ryan was able to add one level to each building, accommodating penthouse suites and a lounge/bar, and constructed a link building to connect the two disparate buildings into a unified, one-of-a-kind hotel.
