Mercy's multi-specialty Critical Care Unit is the fifth of Mercy's seven floor renovations Ryan has performed. This floor renovation was more complex, however, due to the frequent and extensive monitoring, nursing and medical attention required for critical care patients. Previously the floor was comprised of standard patient bedrooms. Ryan performed demolition of the 19,000 square-foot space and built the 20-bed critical care unit in a quick six months. Ryan coordinated the installation of state-of-the-art medical systems and equipment booms with multiple subcontractors, and actually designed a structural boom support to accelerate the subcontractors' processes.
Because this was a traditional design-bid-build project, a number of the details were not finalized at the beginning of construction. Ryan worked with the owner and architects to finalize details and changes that were integral to making the project work. The result is one of the finest critical care units in the country.
