Ryan delivers a distribution campus in the Heartland
In 2002, Ryan constructed an automated dry goods warehouse/distribution center for Target in Cedar Falls, Iowa. When Target was considering constructing a food distribution center in the Heartland, Ryan performed an extensive site search and due diligence process to find an ideal site for the national retailer. Choosing a site immediately adjacent to the original facility, Ryan was able to create a distribution campus for Target. The campus design required a guardhouse expansion, shared truck entrance, combined electrical service and interconnected data and life safety systems. Interrupting operations of the existing warehouse was not an option. Ryan worked closely with the existing building staff to ensure a seamless transition into the shared systems environment without disturbing the facility’s flow of operation.
Completed in June 2009, this new 430,000-square-foot automated food distribution center features 400,000 square feet of cold storage cooled by a state-of-the-art, energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly ammonia refrigeration system.
