Ryan Companies US, Inc. breaks ground at Medina Clydesdale Marketplace
Special design and input from City officials helped shape unique shopping experience for Medina residents
A groundbreaking ceremony will be held starting at 11:45 a.m. at the future site of Medina on Thursday, October 27. The event, which will be attended by Medina Mayor Bruce Workman and representatives from Ryan and Target, signals the start of construction on the city’s first major retail center.
“We paid special attention to the building features as we designed Medina Clydesdale Marketplace,” said Dick Brooks, Vice President, Ryan Companies US, Inc. “It was important to us, as well as to the City of Medina , that this development meet the needs of this busy intersection in town while respecting the beautiful, rural character of Medina . The end result will be a retail center that serves the needs of Medina and area residents, while providing a fine, pleasant shopping experience for all.”
The 170,000 square-foot development will include a 126,000 square-foot Target store. The remaining space will be occupied by restaurants, a bank, and other retail shops.
Ryan Companies US, Inc., designed the shopping center, and will oversee the project’s development.
Along with the construction of Medina Crossroads, the City of Medina has planned numerous public infrastructure improvements in the area, including roads, a signal, sidewalks and lighting.
Special design features incorporated for the Medina site include:
Upscale architecture for Target and smaller retail buildings.
Adjacent Neighborhoods are united with the development via year round lighted trails and sidewalks.
Considerable landscaping features include water fountains in pond and plaza areas to create an aesthetically pleasing shopping and dining experience.
Construction of Clydesdale Trail from County 116 to County 101 enabling a much improved distribution system for vehicular traffic in this commercial area.
Target is planning to open for business in October, 2006.
