MINNEAPOLIS (December 19, 2006) – Ryan Companies US, Inc. announced that it has promoted Mike Cairl to executive vice president of the company’s Minnesota Region.

Cairl started at Ryan more than 20 years ago as a project manager. During his tenure with the company, Cairl has refined effective design-build processes and methodologies that have helped Ryan build its reputation as one of the top design-builders in the nation. Cairl has managed numerous design-build construction projects in the Twin Cities, including the AT&T and US Bancorp towers in Downtown Minneapolis, 7500 Flying Cloud Drive office building in Eden Prairie, and the first phase of the SciMed Life Systems (now Boston Scientific) headquarters campus in Maple Grove.

In his expanded role, Cairl will continue to oversee construction operations for the Minnesota office, creating teams that coordinate construction management and design over a vast range of projects including office, industrial, retail, hotel, medical office, mixed-use, and governmental projects across the state and throughout the country.

Cairl holds a Bachelors degree in construction management from Minnesota State University . In 2005, Cairl received the Distinguished Alumni Harold J. Fitterer Service Award in recognition for his efforts to provide MSU construction management students with a “living laboratory.” This 8 x 20 foot job site trailer, equipped with a conference table, computer, printer, fax machine and other modern technologies, is used by students as an auxiliary lab.

Cairl also holds Associates certificates in construction technology and mechanical HVAC design from St. Paul Vocational Technical Institute. He is a member of the Construction Specifications Institute, Associated General Contractors of Minnesota (AGC), Minnesota State University Advisory Board Member/Construction Management School, and the University of Minnesota Construction Management Advisory Board .
