MINNEAPOLIS (February 2, 2010) – In response to growing opportunities within commercial real estate management, Ryan Companies US, Inc. has promoted Mike McElroy to president of the company’s Real Estate Management Group, from his previous role as executive vice president.

As president of the Real Estate Management Group, McElroy leads the team providing asset, property and facility management solutions to entrepreneurial, institutional and corporate owners of commercial and investment real estate.  Ryan’s managed portfolio includes $2.5 billion worth of office, industrial and retail properties located in 11 states and the District of Columbia.

“McElroy has done a tremendous job over the last several years to transform our management group into a truly national company,” said Pat Ryan, President/CEO of Ryan Companies US, Inc. “Under his leadership, revenues have more than tripled during good and bad economic times.”

McElroy has spent more than 25 years in commercial real estate and has experience in brokerage, finance, investment management, asset management, strategic planning and business development.

“He has a deep understanding of industry complexities,” Ryan said. “He uses those skills to enhance the value of our customers’ assets and in his key role as part of the leadership team at Ryan.”  In addition to his tenure at Ryan, McElroy has held positions at Grubb & Ellis, Koll (The Shelard Group) and Eberhardt Company.  He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota and is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM).

His industry involvement has included serving on the national and local boards of NAIOP. In 2007 he was the recipient of the NAIOP President’s Award. He also previously served on the board of the Building Owners and Management Association (BOMA). McElroy is active in the community, serving on the board of governors for Opportunity International and the Courage Center foundation board as a trustee on the investment committee. McElroy also has been an instructor at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn.
