MINNEAPOLIS (May 4, 2010) – Ryan Companies US, Inc. has completed a 20,000-square-foot residential facility in Cook, Minn., for Spectrum Health Company. The Carefree Living facility is situated perfectly in the north woods and houses 16 assisted-living suites and 13 memory-care units. Spectrum Health and Ryan partnered with DJR Architects on the $3.1-million project, which expands the Spectrum Health Company’s presence on Minnesota’s Iron Range.

Carefree Living-Cook is designed with residents’ comfort and satisfaction in mind. This new community reflects Spectrum’s years of experience and dedication to premier senior living with a commitment to ensuring resident’s autonomy, dignity and quality of life through compassionate assistive care and support. Services range from weekly housekeeping and scheduled transportation to meal service and administration of medications by trained nursing staff.

Spectrum Health Company chose Ryan because of its multifamily housing experience, and its long history of working on the Iron Range. Ryan provided design-build construction services and assisted with the city approval process. To give the owner a preview of the interior spaces before construction, Ryan employed Building Information Modeling to provide a virtual 3D view of the building and the living spaces. The project was funded in part by IRRR and Minnesota Department of Human Services grants.
