MINNEAPOLIS (January 13, 2010) – Ryan Companies US, Inc. announced today that Apogee Enterprises, a Minnesota-based company providing distinctive glass solutions for the commercial construction industry, has signed a lease at Two MarketPointe in Bloomington, Minnesota. Once Apogee has settled into its new 13,000-square-foot corporate headquarters on the fifth floor, employees will enjoy a view from one of their own products: the building uses Apogee subsidiary Viracon’s energy-efficient glass product.
Apogee joins anchor tenant CB Richard Ellis (CBRE), Minn. Farmers Insurance, CIBER and Administaff in the 242,000-square-foot, class “A” office tower that is pre-certified to achieve LEED Gold certification. For Two MarketPointe, Ryan’s design-build team created a building they would want to work in: a high-performance, environmentally-friendly building with an abundance of daylight, a healthy indoor environment, a convenient location with easy access to restaurants, coffee shops and other service businesses and ample parking. Two MarketPointe’s attraction to businesses goes beyond its convenient location near the intersection of France and Interstate 494. Building amenities such as the 10-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows give the space an open feel and have proven to increase the comfort and productivity of employees while providing a healthier work environment.
“As a leader in energy-efficient architectural glass products and services, Apogee was pleased to find corporate office space that exemplifies the benefits we bring to commercial construction projects in the LEED-Gold Two MarketPointe,” said Russell Huffer, Apogee chairman and chief executive officer. “The building showcases highly energy-efficient floor-to-ceiling glass from our Viracon business, which will provide natural daylighting for our office space. This daylighting, combined with other green elements incorporated in the building, will give us a healthier and more productive work environment.
“In addition to the building’s exterior glass from Viracon, we will incorporate silk-screened interior glass from this business to bring the natural daylight into interior offices; our Harmon, Inc. glass installation business, which works with Ryan on building projects across the country, will install the interior glass,” said Huffer. “Our move to Two MarketPointe is a win all around for Apogee – we’ll have a better work environment that incorporates our products and services, in a building developed by a key customer.”
Ryan has done business with Apogee subsidiaries Viracon and Harmon, Inc. on a number of projects, including the Federal Courthouse under construction in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. One of Viracon’s highly energy-efficient glass products installed at Two MarketPointe helped the building achieve pre-certification for LEED Gold status.
Two MarketPointe features a Wi-Fi-enabled lobby, a fitness center, a shared conference room and underground executive parking. The building also promotes mass transit commuting with its convenient location near bus routes, as well as bicycle storage and showers to promote bicycle commuting.
