Menomonee Falls, WI (May 12, 2011)—Froedtert Health Medical Group has begun construction of a five-story, 145,000-square-foot medical clinic to replace the existing Froedtert Health Menomonee Falls Clinic on Town Hall Road. The new, $25-million clinic will be located at the northeast intersection of Town Hall Road and Custer Lane and across from the Community Memorial Hospital campus. The Menomonee Falls Clinic is one of the cornerstones of Froedtert Health’s long-range strategic plan in Menomonee Falls. The start of construction was commemorated with a groundbreaking ceremony on May 10 at the building site.
The Menomonee Falls Clinic will include a full array of primary care and specialty services and house more than 90 physicians and providers to complement the health services provided at Community Memorial Hospital. The clinic will be designed around the individual patient care experience to provide care in a manner that facilitates partnerships between patients and their physicians. The clinic will employ more than 250 staff and is anticipated to open in fall 2012.
“Our clinic physicians have been providing health care to Menomonee Falls and surrounding areas for 50 years,” said Paul Todd, MD, chief medical officer, Froedtert Health Menomonee Falls Clinic. “The construction of this new clinic allows us to expand our current health care offerings to better meet the needs of patients and the community and continue providing key services in close proximity to Community Memorial Hospital.”
The building is being developed on an 11-acre site which Ryan owns and is being designed by Wright Heerema Architects. Additional members of the project team include Anderson Mikos Architects for interior design, TGRWA for structural engineering, and GRAEF-USA for civil engineering and landscape architecture. Ryan will provide design-build construction services.
“After 12 months of planning and coordination with the hospital, Village and our neighbors, we believe we have created a development concept of the highest quality. We are excited to be breaking ground,” Jim McDonald, vice president of development, Ryan Companies US, Inc., said. “We all recognize the health care industry is evolving at a faster pace than ever before. We believe this facility will aid both the hospital and Froedtert Health Medical Group in their efforts to better serve the community and provide optimal patient care.”
The facility is a high performance, environmentally-friendly building with a healthy indoor environment. The clinic’s exterior will be predominantly glass with architectural pre-cast concrete accents. The project utilizes high-performance glazing systems and thermal insulation on both the walls and roof to minimize energy use. Low-flow toilets, other water-saving plumbing fixtures, and sustainable, non-intrusive native plantings that require no permanent irrigation will help the building to minimize water use. The project incorporates recycled materials in many of the building’s aspects including millwork, insulation, carpeting, gypsum board, aluminum framing, concrete and steel.
This building is the second project Ryan Companies has been involved with for Froedtert. Ryan originally developed Community Memorial Medical Commons, the two-building, 126,000-square-foot medical campus located near Appleton Avenue and Good Hope Road in Menomonee Falls. The final phase was completed in 2008. Froedtert Health leases the entire complex. Earlier this year Ryan, on behalf of Froedtert, completed the build-out of two different spaces in the complex.
Menomonee Falls, located just northwest of Milwaukee, is the fastest growing suburb and is within the fastest growing county (Waukesha) in Wisconsin.
