Minneapolis (August 9, 2012) — Ryan Companies US, Inc. announced the promotion of Tony Barranco to Vice President of Development. His focus is on retail and mixed-use properties nationwide with a particular emphasis on projects in Minnesota and Wisconsin. In his role as Vice President, Tony leads project teams through all aspects of the development process including site selection and acquisition, constraint analysis and due diligence, municipal and approvals, design and construction coordination, and lease or sale negotiation.

Since joining Ryan in 2005, Tony has been a part of such notable projects as 222 Hennepin, a downtown Minneapolis mixed-use redevelopment with 286 luxury apartments and a Whole Foods Market, and Underwood Crossing, a shopping center anchored by Target and Trader Joes in Brookfield, Wisconsin. “I really enjoy the complexity and challenge of urban infill, redevelopment projects,” said Barranco. “I get to use a wide range of skills – from collaborating with neighborhood groups to handling the intricacies of mixed-use urban development. It’s rewarding to bring stakeholders together toward a mutual goal.”

Tony has over 15 years of retail experience, not only in real estate development but also as a retail business owner. He co-founded Crazy Carrot Juice Bar, Inc., which assets were bought by the regional franchise partner of Jamba Juice in 1999.

“Tony brings a unique perspective to retail development,” said Mark Schoening, Senior Vice President, Retail for Ryan. “Having an entrepreneurial background has given him an appreciation for the amount of work it takes to own and operate a retail business.”

Tony received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota in 1996. He is an Ambassador for the Greater Twin Cities United Way, President of the Humboldt Homeowners Association, and a volunteer with The Caring Tree. Tony is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), and Executive Board Member of the Minnesota Shopping Center Association (MSCA).
