Two companies will partner to attract companies to new business hub at I-35W/694 interchange
NEW BRIGHTON, Minn. (July 19, 2011) – Ryan Companies and Welsh will team up to develop and market expansive new office buildings planned for New Brighton Exchange, the largest redevelopment project in the city’s history.

The City Council selected Ryan as the lead developer and Welsh as the real estate broker for the next commercial portion of New Brighton Exchange, located at the interchange of interstates 35W and 694. The two companies will be responsible for attracting new businesses to build on 20-plus acres of the site set aside for office space.

The entire project encompasses 100 acres of city-owned land that already is home to companies including APi, Shavlik and Data Services International, whose headquarters was completed by Ryan in 2008. Future buildings will include a mix of office and tech-flex designs.

“The New Brighton Exchange is the premier corporate build-to-suit site in the Twin Cities,” said Tad Jellison, executive vice president at Jones Lang LaSalle. “It offers excellent visibility, close proximity to both downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul, and can accommodate growth along 694 medical/tech corridor.”

Grant Fernelius, New Brighton’s community development director, said the city is looking forward to a fruitful partnership with Ryan and Welsh. “This deal will tap into Welsh’s deep experience in marketing with Ryan’s extensive knowledge of the site and the overall project.  This partnership also communicates to the market that New Brighton is open for business.”

Casey Hankinson, Ryan’s vice president of development, complimented city leaders for their forward-thinking creating this new business hub.

“New Brighton Exchange will be an ongoing asset to the vitality of the city,” Hankinson said. “Leaders here have taken a pro-active approach to make sure this site is ready for development. We have successfully completed several projects in New Brighton and we’re ready to pursue corporate users for this site.”
