Ryan Companies Ranks Third in Star Tribune’s Top 175 Workplaces
When the world shut down, our company was faced with two unexpected challenges: how to keep team members safe and how to stay connected. In an industry that requires some of our team members to be onsite to keep important, time sensitive projects moving forward, our teams were faced with a lot of unknowns. The spirit of our culture was put to the test as we embarked on our day-to-day tasks from our living room couches or socially distanced at project sites. As we navigated a different world, Ryan’s culture never waned. Our company values – safety, integrity, respect, stewardship, family, excellence and fun – stayed with us, helping us rank among the top 10 in the large employer category among Star Tribune’s Top 175 Workplaces. This year our Minneapolis office, which is also the company’s headquarters, received our highest ranking yet, moving from eighth place to third place. After the year we just experienced, this upward movement is a true testament of our team’s dedication and resilience.
Ryan helps create places for people to thrive and that starts within our own walls. Employees are encouraged to “always do the right thing” and are provided with a number of resources to thrive. From family-friendly benefits to education assistance and employee-led employee resource groups to having time off to volunteer, Ryan team members are positioned for success. We also like to have fun. Coffee breaks and happy hours, although virtual for the past year, are pretty much standard. And most recently, upwards of 40 of Ryan’s team members, including friends and family, donned matching cycling jerseys to fight multiple sclerosis by riding 75 miles and raising more than $40K collectively. This is just a fraction of what our team members experience as a member of the Ryan family.
Published annually, Top Workplaces recognizes the most progressive companies in Minnesota based on employee opinions measuring engagement, organizational health and satisfaction. This year’s survey analysis included responses from over 76,000 employees at public, private and nonprofit organizations across the state, and rankings are composite scores calculated purely based on employee responses. This is Ryan’s fourth consecutive year of being ranked among the top workplaces in Minnesota.
