Ryan served as the general contractor for the Krause Gateway Center, the new corporate headquarters for Krause Holdings which includes convenience store chain Kum & Go.
The unique project is situated on approximately two city blocks adjacent to Western Gateway Park and John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park in downtown Des Moines. Kum & Go selected internationally renowned Italian architecture firm Renzo Piano Building Workshop to design the six-story building in collaboration with OPN Architects of Des Moines.
With employee retention and recruiting a key objective, the building offers numerous amenities including outdoor work areas, a rooftop garden, fitness room and game room. The layout is designed to encourage collaboration through a unique use of indoor and outdoor space, and the building is expected to attain LEED certification.
Working on a Class A office building with a high design element requires extra care to properly install and minimize waste of expensive materials, and Ryan was certainly up to the task. Our work on historic restorations and high-end new construction projects throughout the US prepared us well for this unique facility, as had our experience in expertly managing downtown construction sites to reduce commuter interruption and control noise and debris.
