Ryan Companies US, Inc., Grand Living, and Castletop Capital are partnering to develop, design-build, own and operate Grand Living at The Grove. This will be the fourth Grand Living community in Texas and the groundbreaking is planned for summer 2022 at the corner of Bull Creek Road and Jackson Avenue.

Grand Living at The Grove will be approximately 260,000 square feet with 186 independent and assisted living units, as well as an entire wing dedicated to 34 memory care units. Seniors will have the ability to age-in-community; meaning a resident can remain within their apartment home and continue to receive services over time—even as their needs change.

“We have an unparalleled commitment to providing exceptional experiences for our residents,” said Dan Peterka, president and CEO, Grand Living. “We are excited to expand our brand into this dynamic mixed-use community just minutes from downtown Austin.”

Amenities will include a Grand Lounge and Legends Club; Grand Library; formal, casual and bistro dining; a performance theater; Grand Spa and Fitness Center featuring a full-service salon, pool and courtyard; therapy rooms; game rooms; a gift shop; chapel and outdoor amenity spaces. There will also be 180 below-grade parking stalls.

“The Grove is the ideal location for Austin’s senior population with its dining and entertainment options,” said Hunter Barrier, South Central regional president, Ryan Companies. “Ryan is predicated on the desire to create places for people to thrive and this project helps us achieve that objective alongside our partners.”

Ryan is the co-developer and builder. Ryan Architecture + Engineering will design the building. Castletop Capital is the master plan developer and Grand Living will operate the community upon completion.

“The Grove master plan is centered around creating a vibrant gathering place for people in a mixed-use environment,” said Alan Topfer, co-founder and managing director of Castletop Capital. “I am very excited to add this senior living community to the existing mix of apartments that are now leasing; office buildings, which are already 85% leased; and restaurants, fitness center, grocery and liquor store, nail salon and day spa services that have already signed leases.”

Ryan and Grand Living are currently partnering on three other senior living developments in the state, including Grand Living at Georgetown with expected completion this summer; Grand Living at Riverstone in Sugarland, expected for completion in January 2022; and Grand Living at Tuscan Lakes in Houston, which recently received financing and is expected to break ground this year. Grand Living at The Grove’s anticipated completion is late 2023.
