We're working with Aegis Living, to bring a new and much-needed senior living community to Ballard, WA. The project broke ground in March 2022 and is anticipated to open in early 2024. The residences fill a critical need as the 75 and older community is expected to grow nearly 25 percent in King County between now and 2027, according to ESRI.

“We are honored to help bring a comfortable space to residents and their families that will help fulfill an important demand for senior housing in the Seattle area,” said Dan Bergstein, northwest region vice president of construction. “This community will provide residents with top notch living options nestled in the neighborhood of Ballard, just minutes away from the waterfront.”

The 92-unit senior living community at 949 Market Street will be approximately 75,000 square feet and house an array of amenities including dining facilities, a movie theater, activity rooms and a community rooftop space. The building will also incorporate business offices and one level of below grade parking.

The five-level building will be home to 68 units for residents needing assistance and 24 memory care apartments for those in need of specially trained dementia care. The building’s location is along one of Ballard’s most frequented streets and will offer residents opportunities to enjoy nearby parks and restaurants.

We’ve completed more than 60 senior living communities in 17 states, but this project is our first senior living community in the Seattle metropolitan area and second in the Washington state. DAHLIN is the architect for the project. The property will be Aegis’ second senior living community in Ballard, and their twenty-first in Washington state.
