Ryan Companies Hires Accomplished Real Estate Management Leader

Ryan Companies US, Inc. has hired Jim Durda to join its growing property management team as General Manager.  Durda, who has been a fixture in the Downtown leasing and property management scene for nearly three decades, will take on Ryan’s latest asset management project, City Center

The 1.6 million square feet multi-use complex has been under management by Ryan since June 5th of this year.

Durda, who was chosen for his strength in repositioning downtown assets, accelerating leasing and adaptation to market changes, comes to Ryan from Zeller Realty where he served as Executive Vice President.  Previous to that he spent over 21 years at IDS Center.  While known for his deal making ability, it was under his management that the IDS Center (1.4M SF) achieved positive returns over two decades and four ownership groups.  It was those returns, among other attributes, that earned Durda’s team the BOMA 360 Award, four Green Globes and a finalist selection in the international BOMA TOBY award for three consecutive years.   Durda is also known for his leadership in environmental initiatives like green cleaning, energy management, security and operational excellence.  During his tenure at IDS they raised the Energy Star rating from 54 to 87.

Durda, a University of Minnesota graduate, serves on the Board of Directors of the Minneapolis Downtown Council and has been a member of NAIOP and the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) for a number of years’ serving on leadership committees for both organizations.
