Ryan Companies US, Inc. announced today the relocation of Senior Vice President of Senior Living Development Dan Walsh from Chicago, Ill. to Dallas, Texas. With the continued demand for senior living development, this move reflects Ryan’s commitment to expand its senior housing footprint.

“Dan’s move supports our geographic market penetration strategy, and he will be leading a newly cultivated team in a location where data has overwhelmingly displayed a need for continued senior living development,” said Julie Ferguson, senior vice president, senior living, Ryan Companies.

According to 2019 U.S. Census ACS data, the total population of Texas is expected to grow by 7.9% from 2020 to 2025, compared to 3.7% nationally. Within that same timeframe, it is estimated that Texas will see the 75 and older demographic, with an annual income of $75,000 or more, increase by 43.8%.

Known for his proven, 30-year track record of commercial real estate expertise, Walsh comes to Dallas with experience in developing more than 2,300 senior living units. Since 2015, he has worked hand-in-hand with Life Care Services, the second largest manager of full-service senior living communities in the country. Together, they've developed 10 projects located throughout Illinois, Tennessee, Arizona, Indiana and Missouri; most recently breaking ground on Clarendale Six Corners, a 10-story senior living community in Chicago. He also helped execute five different Thomas Place senior living projects throughout Illinois and Iowa.

Ryan has built nearly 50 senior living communities throughout the country and of that portfolio, developed 26. The company’s South Central region currently has two senior living developments under construction, a senior housing renovation underway, two projects that will break ground in the next 18 months and several opportunities on the horizon.
