Ryan Companies Promotes Alena Johnson, AIA, ACHA, to Vice President of Architecture, Healthcare

Ryan Companies US, Inc. has announced the promotion of Alena Sakalouski Johnson to vice president of architecture for the healthcare sector. Johnson has been with the company since 2017 and previously served as national director of healthcare architecture.

Johnson leads a team of 15 healthcare architects and designers located across the country. She uses her 15 years of industry experience to strengthen existing client relationships and cultivate new ones. As a healthcare planning and design expert who has worked closely with Ryan team members across development, construction, and real estate management, she will also use her experience to best leverage Ryan’s integrated approach and national healthcare team to serve clients’ evolving needs.

Her passion and strategic approach to healthcare helps ensure that every project is a success,” said Mike McMahan, senior vice president and sector leader of healthcare at Ryan. “Not only does she advocate for clients, but she also supports and mentors her own team members, which further enhances our integrated approach.”

Since arriving at Ryan four years ago, Johnson has been heavily involved in several healthcare projects, including the Valley Ambulatory Surgery Center in St. Charles, Ill.;  St. Peters Ambulatory Surgery Center & Clinic in St. Peters, Mo.; the University of St. Thomas Center for Well-Being in St. Paul, Minn.; and an upcoming state-of-the-art Heart Center for Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Johnson is licensed by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the American College of Healthcare Architects (ACHA) and is a board member of the Park Nicollet Foundation. She earned her Master of Architecture from the University of Minnesota School of Design.
