Ryan Companies Welcomes Highly Regarded Commercial Real Estate Executive to Development Team
Ryan Companies US, Inc. has announced the hiring of Maureen Michalski as Vice President of Development in its Minneapolis office starting mid-March. Michalski joins Ryan to stand as the executive-in-charge for the Ford Site Redevelopment in St. Paul, MN.
Previously Vice President of Development at Schafer Richardson, Michalski brings over 17 years of experience to the new role. She will now be the lead executive for the Ford Site Redevelopment in St. Paul, managing the internal multidisciplinary project team comprised of design, construction, development and other real estate professionals. Michalski will manage project budgets, develop and maintain public and private partnerships to ensure project and master programming success, and source new opportunities in multifamily, mixed-use and office product lines for Ryan and its partners.

She has experience and success in several product types, having led or contributed to the development of mixed-use projects with retail, affordable housing, office and apartments. She values community engagement and recognizes the impact projects have on communities, making her a perfect fit for our North Region mixed-use team,” said Tony Barranco, Senior Vice President of Development, “While the Ford Site will be Maureen’s primary focus, her role will grow as the project reaches a critical mass.”
With her strong background in the industry, Maureen brings expertise in multifamily, mixed-use and office development utilizing a wide variety of financing and ownership structures. She has widespread experience with public financing, affordable housing and tax credit programs. Michalski will use her expertise to execute and drive decisions on complex projects that will be needed as the Ford Site project progresses.
Michalski has her bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from Macalester College in St. Paul and is affiliated with several organizations including as a board member for the MN Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, fund trustee and current chair of the Macalester College Highwinds Fund, housing committee member of the Urban Land Institute Minnesota and society member of Lambda Alpha Intl. Land Economics. In 2019 she was named a Bisnow’s Twin Cities Power Woman.
Ryan Companies has also announced the hiring of Steve Strom as its Director of Development for Senior Living, based in the Twin Cities. Strom will lead a growing senior living team beginning in mid-March as well.
