As the 2024-2025 school year begins, we’re celebrating the completion of four charter schools in Florida, Louisiana and South Carolina. With two new ground-up builds and two expansion projects, these schools represent our latest completions with Charter Schools USA, one of the country's largest and highest-performing education management companies. Each school is set to be operational this back-to-school season, which begins this month.

The schools scheduled to open include:

  • Winthrop College Prep Academy in Riverview, FL: The 37,700-SF expansion added two buildings, including an early learning center. These schools are sited on the last piece of land approved for educational facilities within the overall Winthrop master plan.
  • Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy in Youngsville, LA: This 88,524-SF expansion provided a sports complex to support the four-building education complex.
  • Vermilion Charter Academy in Maurice, LA: This new 62,250-SF building will accommodate a growing population.
  • Summerville Preparatory Academy in Summerville, SC: This 43,696-SF new building is the first charter school in Summerville, one of the fastest-growing towns in the state.

These charter school completions are the latest additions to our expanding K-12 project portfolio in the Southeast. This year alone, we have completed nearly 400,000 square feet of educational facilities in the region. These new schools also signify a strengthening of our ongoing partnership with Charter Schools USA, aimed at increasing the availability of educational options in communities where the demand for independent schools is on the rise.

"With the completion of these four educational facilities, Ryan is expanding its presence in the education sector and solidifying our position as one of the Southeast's top charter school builders," said Max Bosso, our vice president of real estate development. "Our longstanding relationship with Charter Schools USA has allowed us to provide more than 55 alternative education solutions to communities across the Southeast, spanning more than three million square feet across four states."

As our portfolio of K-12 developments continues to expand, progress is moving on four more schools that are set to be completed for the 2025-2026 school year.

"Ryan Companies has been a longtime partner and advocate for Charter Schools USA's mission to provide safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environments that give students equal access to individualized opportunities," said Brad Hill, our vice president of construction operations. "We look forward to continuing our partnership on future projects as we work to expand into new territories."
