Froedtert Community Hospital Mequon

Embarking on a new model of care delivery, Froedtert Health turned to Ryan for the development and construction of Froedtert Community Hospital in Mequon, WI. The small-scale, neighborhood hospital’s development set the stage for a total of four similar projects all completed about the same time—two in partnership with Ryan. The 17,400-SF single-story, 8-bed hospital provides patient access to acute care and integrated services while reducing travel and costs. In addition to standard and specialized exam rooms, the hospital features radiology and CT rooms, a lab, a drug room and several backup systems. Located on two former residential properties, the tight-fit site required an easement for drainage from neighboring properties and the installation of several underground stormwater detention devices beneath the parking lot. A trusted partner for more than 15 years, Froedtert relied on us to help establish new parameters and adapt their larger hospital building standards to this smaller-scale design. Following municipal approvals and land purchase, Froedtert paused the project due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ryan remained flexible and accommodating, resuming construction several months later, pivoting with some changes and completing the hospital in just 10 months under budget. Scheduling, open communication with Froedtert and vendors, diversity and inclusion, procurement, hitting key milestones and passing numerous inspections all remained vital to the project.
