The Little Potato Company, based in Edmonton, Alberta, is the world’s leader in creamer potatoes. When Little Potato decided to expand their operations, they turned to Ryan to help develop a parcel of land in DeForest, Wisconsin, and lead the construction of their first US processing facility.

Constructed of steel beams, columns and insulated precast concrete wall panels, the building includes cooler space, dry warehouse and processing space, plus office. The cooler space is also expandable to accommodate the company’s projected growth. Other features of the project include 30-foot clear ceiling heights in the warehouse area, nine dock doors, two overhead drive-in doors and 130 stalls for employee parking.

The timeline was accelerated from the beginning: once Little Potato Company announced it would develop a new processing facility in DeForest, Ryan announced the acquisition of the DeForest land parcel the next month, and construction officially began on the site less than a month after that. By collaborating closely with the customer and laying out the timeline to identify critical path items in advance, the Ryan team delivered a standout project in less than a year. Little Potato employs approximately 50 people, growing to approximately 130 full-time employees when fully operational. All represent new jobs and are expected to have a significant positive impact on the surrounding community.
