The Summerville Preparatory Academy, a 43,623-square-foot educational facility, showcases Ryan Companies’ expertise in navigating complex challenges and delivering effective solutions. Located on a 9.42-acre site on Bacons Bridge Road, this one-story charter school was developed to address the educational needs of Summerville, SC.
Ryan, engaged by Red Apple Development in August 2021, encountered several obstacles throughout the project. A major challenge was the intricate permitting process with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (ACO) due to the site’s proximity to navigable waters— concurrent city permitting added further complexity. Ryan’s ability to manage these regulatory hurdles was critical to the project’s success.
To overcome these challenges, Ryan implemented a strategic solution by opting for precast walls instead of concrete tilt panels, which saved 14 days in construction time. This decision not only streamlined the project but also enhanced overall efficiency.
The completed academy features K-8 classrooms, art and music labs, a multi-purpose room with a basketball court, and a cafeteria, fulfilling the community’s educational needs. The successful delivery of this project underscores Ryan’s commitment to addressing challenges with innovative solutions and meeting client expectations.
